Actress Joan Collins and husband Percey Gibson were among 100 celebrities who clinked champagne glasses and nibbled on caviar aboard the British Airways Concorde's farewell flight.

On October 24, BA retired the Concorde, the world's only supersonic airliner, ending three decades of supersonic commercial travel. On its final flight, the Concorde flew from John F Kennedy International Airport, New York to London Heathrow.

Collins, who has flown Concorde about 10 times, said the end of the era was 'tragic'.

"The first time I ever flew Concorde was a bit of a white knuckle ride," she said as she boarded the plane. "I am more used to it now, it's so wonderful to make the journey in three and a half hours."
