Stamps scam: 3 police officers arrested

In a major breakthrough in themulti-crore fake stamp papers scam, three police officials were on Saturday arrested in Maharashtra.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Gokul Bhagaji Patil of the state intelligence, Inspector Vashist Andale of the Sahar airport crime branch unit and Sub-inspector Prabhakar Kakade of the Nalasopara police station were arrested under the provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, asenior police officer said.

All three have been taken to the Special Investigation Team's headquarters at Pune and will be produced before the special MCOCA Court there on Sunday morning, SIT sources said.

Inspector Dattatraya Dhal and Assistant Police Inspector Dilip Kamath of the Mumbai police crime branch are already in SIT custody.
