The Surya Kirans, based at Bidar in Karnataka, fly over a Sukhoi 30MKI aircraft on display.
The Surya Kirans began as a six-aircraft team that flew the indigenously built Kiran Mk II jets. Now the squadron has nine aircraft.
Handpicked pilots from several squadrons are given rigorous training to perform in unison. The team includes a group of technicians who ensure that the jets are in top condition all the time.
