Attack on Chandrababu: Six detained

October 02, 2003 18:19 IST

The Andhra Pradesh Police on Thursday picked up six civil rights activists from the Tirupati for questioning in connection with the landmine attack on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and four others.

Three activists belong to the Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee. They included the outfit's Chittoor district president Hari Prasad.

The three have been taken to a local police station for interrogation, the outfit's state general secretary Prof Seshaiah told PTI. The detained APCLC members were identified as Hari Prasad, M V Prasad and Kesav.

Two other detained activists belong to the Rayalaseema Praja Samithi, while one is a sympathiser of the APCLC.

The police alleged the detained civil rights activists had links with the outlawed People's War group, suspected to be behind Wednesday's attack.
