Police question youth in diplomat's rape
November 11, 2003 19:57 IST
The chances of the sensational rape of a Swiss diplomat in New Delhi being solved have brightened with the arrest of a youth in connection with a shootout earlier this year at the World Trade Centre in Connaught Place, police sources said today.
"We are trying to ascertain whether he was involved in the rape case as there are some indications to suggest so," the sources said.
The convent-educated youth was arrested yesterday in connection with the shootout at the centre, they said, adding that he has confessed to his involvement in that case.
The Swiss woman was raped after being abducted in her own car from the parking lot of the Siri Fort Auditorium where she had gone to watch a movie during the India International Film Festival 2003.
