Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes at NIFT

The National Institute of Fashion Technology invites application for the following Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes:

1. Undergraduate Programme in Design in the following disciplines:

a. Fashion & Apparel.

b. Fashion & Textile.

c. Fashion & Life Style Accessories.

d. Fashion & Communication. 

2. Undergraduate Programme in Fashion Technology. 

3. Postgraduate Programme in Management. 

4. Postgraduate Programme in Technology. 

Eligibility:

UG Programmes in Design and Fashion Technology:

a. 10+2 from a recognised Central/State Board of Secondary Examination.

b. Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or abroad recognised by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system. 

c. Pass grade in the Senior Secondary Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects. 

d. Three or four-year diploma recognised by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

For Fashion Technology candidates must have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects.

PG Programme in Management:

Graduation (or equivalent) in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities or Diploma in Accessory/Fashion Design/FIT from NIFT only.

PG Programme in Technology:

BE/BTech in Textiles/Apparel/Mechanical/Industrial /Production/Electronics/Computer/Information Technology.

Candidates appearing for their qualifying examination can also apply. Their admission, however, will be provisional and subject to obtaining the defined eligibility by July 15, 2004.

The seats reserved for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped candidates exist as per the Government of India rules. 5% seats are reserved on a supernumerary basis for NRI/NRI Sponsored/Foreign Nationals/SAARC in each discipline.

Application Procedure:

All eligible candidates will have to appear for a written examination on February 1, 2004 at any one of the following cities: New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Cochin, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Guwahati, Jaipur, Jammu, Lucknow, Patna, Raipur, and Ranchi.

How to Apply:

Application form and prospectus can be obtained against payment of Rs 125 from all branches of UTI Bank across the country.

Application form and prospectus can also be obtained by post on payment of Rs 200 or by hand for Rs 125 by DD in favour of NIFT, New Delhi, payable at New Delhi from the NIFT centres at New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Bangalore, Kolkata and Hyderabad.

Important Dates:

Last date for request of application forms by post: December 1, 2003.

Last date for obtaining forms from UTI Bank: December 10, 2003.

Last date for receipt of completed forms: December 15, 2003.

Date of examination: February 1, 2004.
