November 10, 2003 08:28 IST

One person was killed and six injured following communal violence in Kalupur and Dariapur areas of Ahmedabad on Sunday night.

Authorities had to impose curfew in the affected areas.

Initial reports had said two persons were killed -- one burnt and the other stabbed to death.

But after verification it was found that only one person was killed, while the one who was stabbed was recuperating at V S Hospital, Joint Commissioner of Police (Sector 1), P C Thakur, said.

Three of the injured were admitted to a private hospital while the rest were at the V S Hospital, hospital sources said.

The reason for the violence was not clear yet, the officer said.
