Seven members of a tribal family were on Thursday burnt alive inside their house by people of another caste in a Fatehpur Chaurasi village in Unnao district.

The dead included four women. Five others received burn injuries.

Armed men, who belonged to the Dalit community, raided the house of one Ganga Ram Kanjar, a tribal, and severely beat up the inmates and set their house ablaze, according to the FIR lodged with the police.

Ten of the 11 people named in the FIR have been arrested while Bholai, chief of Doshpur Shivli village in the same police station area, who is believed to be the main accused, is absconding, the police said.

Two of the seriously injured were hospitalised while the bodies were sent for post-mortem.

The incident is believed to be the sequel to a dispute between the two groups over grazing of goats.

Extra police force was deployed in the area as a precautionary measure and senior officials were camping there.
