Karunanidhi writes to PM over Azhagiri's arrest Sathiya Moorthy in Chennai | May 24, 2003 20:42 IST Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M Karunanidhi on Saturday wrote to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his deputy Lal Kishenchand Advani, characterising the arrest of his son M K Azhagiri for the murder of party leader T Kiruttinan as 'another instance of misuse of power by the Tamil Nadu government'. Karunanidhi denied intra-party feud between the groups owing allegiance to Azhagiri, and his son and DMK youth wing leader M K Stalin as the cause for Kiruttinan's murder. He said Azhagiri was arrested within 24 hours of the murder, without proper investigations. The remand application mentioned a secret enquiry, he said, adding, "The state government is instigating the police to fabricate cases and falsely implicate a senior party functionary for the murder of another senior party functionary."
