Police arrest Veerappan's aide

May 22, 2003 09:45 IST

The Tamil Nadu police on Wednesday arrested 'Kutti' Veerappan, a close associate of sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, at the hill town of Yercaud near Salem.

Kutti Veerappan was wanted in connection with a number of murder, poaching and other cases committed over a period of 10 years, District Superintendent of Police Pon Manickavel said on Thursday.

He was arrested along with another person from the Vasavampatti area of Yercaud during a search operation, Manickavel said.

Also known as Vanaraja, Kutti Veerappan will be handed over to the Special Task Force for interrogation, the police said.
