We have no chemical weapons: Lashkar

May 02, 2003 17:52 IST

Pro-Pakistan terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Tayiba has denied possessing chemical weapons.

Quoting 'recent' intelligence reports, Lieutenant Colonel S P K Singh of the Northern Command Headquarters had said on Wednesday, "Over the past two to three months, the army has been consistently receiving information that foreign terrorists in the state have been moving with suspicious looking containers. But recent intelligence inputs have suggested that terrorists have been talking about use of poisonous gas."

In a telephonic statement on Friday to Current News Service, a news agency in Jammu and Kashmir, Lashkar spokesman Abu Huzaifa said the charge by Indian security agencies was 'fabricated and baseless'.
