June 30, 2003 18:56 IST

A youth was detained on Monday afternoon after he allegedly attempted to 'enter' the premises of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's residence in New Delhi from the back gate, police sources said.

The sources identified the intruder as Moti Lal Saini, aged around 25.

Saini, who hails from Dausa in Rajasthan, has been taken in for questioning by a joint team of the Delhi Police and intelligence agencies, they said.

Saini claimed that he wanted to meet Vajpayee in connection with some grievance, the sources said.
