India ready to resume Delhi-Lahore
bus service from July 1

June 03, 2003 19:52 IST

India is ready to restore the Delhi-Lahore bus service from July 1, provided everything goes according to the schedule, official sources said on Tuesday.

A decision to this effect was taken at an inter-ministerial meeting convened by the External Affairs Ministry.

The sources, however, said Pakistan has to agree to the schedule before the service could be resumed.

They said while India is ready, several issues, including those related to logistics, visa and immigration facilities, customs and security aspects remain to be sorted out.

The service was stopped after the December 13 2001, terrorist attack on the Indian Parliament.
