The show that glittered

Certain things are taken for granted at a Tarun Tahiliani show: Entertainment. Great clothes. VIPs. Glitz and glamour. All of that was on prominent display at the India Fashion Week.

Georgettes, chiffons, suede, cottons embellished by Swarovski crystals in a wide range of colours held sway on the ramp to some tight choreography by Aparna and Tania. The guests ranged from Kareena Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Neeta Ambani, Anuradha Mahindra and Ravi Shastri to Simi Garewal.

The clothes will be later sold at Mumbai's Ensemble (run by Tahiliani's sister Tina), the proceeds of which will go to a charity for breast cancer.

Just before the show, a couple of designers said they would prefer watching the show on the television, rather than braving the crowds inside. Designer Sabyasachi, whom Tahiliani called a genius, said, "This is one show I would rather watch from my hotel room or the lounge."
