Two radicals -- Pakistan's hardline Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Fazlur Rehman and Vishwa Hindu Parishad's president Vishnu Hari Dalmiya on Monday met in New Delhi and discussed ways and means to achieve durable peace in the sub-continent.

After remaining closeted in a conference room of a five star hotel in downtown Connaught Place for over 50 minutes, they came out with smiles on their faces.

While the JUI delegation was led by Rehman, Dalmiya was accompanied by VHP's senior vice-president Acharya Giriraj Kishore.

Rajya Sabha member Lalit Suri, Pundit N K Sharma and Lahore-based journalist of Pakistani daily The News, Imtiaz Alam, also attended the meeting.

Emerging from the meeting, the two sides posed before the photographers with Rehman holding the hands of the Acharya and Dalmiya.

"We are very happy and we have discussed only ways to find peace in the region," Rehman said and termed the meeting very encouraging.

Asked how the meeting went, Dalmiya said: "Our is the same mission as that of our Pakistani friends of having a peaceful atmosphere....we welcomed our Pakistani brothers to uphold the tradition of our country to give all respects to the guest."
