Aki Narula is shockingly sexy

Aki Narula's clothes are just another label for shocking. Sensual. And sexy.

Get a load of this: Sex goddess goes to war and then to a bar. That is expression, a la Aki.

Over 170 separates spanned the gamut from day to nightwear. The fabrics ranged from muslin and gauze to smooth, flowing satins, georgettes, silks, Chinese brocades and golds. Each Aki garment would cost you somewhere between Rs 1,000 to Rs 7,000.

The colours: light, bright, pastels and rich -- all in distinct silhouettes, which is an Aki speciality. Every Aki creation was accompanied by eye-catching accessories -- another Aki speciality -- like zippers, leather straps, tap-shaped pendants, ghungroo detailing on shoes... Words, sketches, pictures, some even depicting various yoga asanas found expression on pockets and on the outfits themselves.

Aki's influence has always been Japanese designers, especially Issey Miyake and Rei Kawakubo. In this particular collection, his look ranged from punk to disco to combat gear to sportswear.

He maintains all his clothes are wearable, though he loves that little bit of sleaze in his ensembles, "I don't think you can be slick without being sleazy," he says.
