The Delhi Police on Wednesday seized 10 kilogrammes of heroin worth Rs 10 crore in the international market.

In what is considered as one of the biggest seizures in recent times, the police also arrested the peddler -- Ibrahim Sheikh -- who is from Madhya Pradesh.

The seizure took place in Daryaganj area of central Delhi by Narcotics and Crime Prevention cell following a tip-off on Tuesday night, Deputy Commissioner of Police D L Kashyap said.

Additional Commissioner of Police (crime) P Kamaraj said the accused was involved in drug peddling for the last seven years.

Sheikh's father Mohammed Hanif, according to Kamaraj, has opium farms in Mandsaur.

He said Sheikh also used to buy chemicals and sell these to the manufacturers of heroin in Mandsaur and Neemuch.
