No discipline in my party: Fernandes

July 15, 2003 21:23 IST

Samata Party president and Defence Minister George Fernandes on Tuesday admitted that there was no discipline in his party and that it was proving to be a major problem.

"There are only a few people who abide by the party's rules and regulations. In our party, any MP can speak inside or outside Parliament or party forum. Anybody can abuse anybody. There is no limit to it," he told reporters in Delhi.

The lack of discipline was the greatest problem in the party, Fernandes said adding he was feeling helpless for quite some time now since he did not have a solution.

Taking responsibility for the sad state of affairs, he said, "Being the party president, I take the entire blame. Action should be taken against me."
