Baby rescued after 16 hours in grave July 02, 2003 16:14 IST In yet another case of female infanticide, a baby girl was rescued sixteen hours after her father buried her alive in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district. On the morning of June 30, a Patel family at a village within the Hanumana Police Station area was blessed with a third daughter. This 'trauma' made her dad bury the child in a hole near the hamlet. When the mother protested, the accused threatened her, but the matter became known to the police. Collector S K Mishra directed that the grave be dug up and the baby girl was found alive. The infant has been hospitalised at Hanumana. A case was registered against the accused, who is absconding.
