BJP fomenting anti-Pakistan
sentiments: Swamy

January 29, 2003 20:51 IST

Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of fomenting anti-Pakistan sentiments in India.

Swamy, in Islamabad for a meeting at the Institute of Strategic Affairs, charged the BJP of trying to use hatred against Pakistan as a plank for its campaign in the upcoming general elections.

Swamy said, "Such hatred in India for Pakistan and its people is created by the BJP, which came to power cashing on the Kargil war."

He said the Congress and other political parties had failed to oppose the Hindutva strategy of the BJP and its allies.

Swamy also said that Pakistan should seriously address the issue of cross-border infiltration, in order to create a conducive atmosphere for talks with India.
