Advani, Thackeray to discuss early polls

December 29, 2003 17:09 IST

Amid talks of advancing Lok Sabha polls, Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani will meet Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray in Mumbai on Tuesday.

"Advani will hold talks with the Sena chief at the latter's suburban Bandra residence and elicit the Sena's views on advancement of the general election," according to a source in Mumbai.

Advani arrived in the metropolis on Monday to attend some private functions.

The source claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party had made up its mind to advance the general election following the party's victory in three states in the just concluded assembly polls.

"It (the BJP) is seeking the response of its allies now," the source said.
