A Delhi police inspector has been arrested by the police in connection with the multicrore stamp paper scam, police sources said.

Puran Singh was arrested last night by the sleuths of Crime Branch's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) after his name cropped up during interrogation of Telgi's associates, they said.

The EOW has arrested nine accomplices of Telgi in Delhi and is probing his nexus in the capital.

Puran Singh has been accused of helping Telgi's associates while investigating two cases relating to the scam in 1999 and 2000, the sources said.

"His complicity with the accused is clear and police has enough evidence against him in this regard," they said.
