Curfew in Hyderabad relaxed for 12 hours

With the situation in communal trouble-torn areas of the old city in Hyderabad improving, curfew was relaxed for 12 hours from 0700 IST on Wednesday.

Curfew was imposed on Saturday following communal violence in Dabeerpura, Charminar, Bhavaninagar, Moghalpura, Falaknuma, Chatrinaka, Mir Chowk and Shah Ali Banda areas. Five persons were killed in the violence.

"No untoward incident was reported from the troubled areas on Tuesday night. Hence, curfew has been relaxed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today," police said.

Curfew was relaxed for the first time for 10 hours from 7 a.m. in three phases on Tuesday.
