Delhi doctor abducted for ransom

December 06, 2003 17:58 IST

A doctor working with Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi has been reported missing with his family claiming they had received a demand for a ransom of Rs one crore.

R K Gupta (50) went to the hospital in the morning on Friday but did not return home, police sources said on Saturday. His car and other belongings were also not traceable. His family members lodged a report with the Rajinder Nagar police late in the evening.

They claimed to have received a telephone call demanding a ransom of Rs one crore.

Acknowledging that Gupta was financially sound, police said they were looking into the ransom theory.
