'I want people to abide by the rules'

India is a sleeping giant.

We have made so much progress, in terms of technology and transport. But there is so much more to be done. There is so much manpower. But I don't think our potential is being tapped.

I'm in the glamour field, where it is very easy to make money. In fact, even my maid or cook earn a lot of money. But for the person on the road -- the equation is different. There are people who run houses on Rs 3,000 or Rs 4,000 or even less. That is so scary. That amounts to my cell phone bills.

I dream of an India that is modern, where people are literate. Take Mumbai. The government has aided the poor with homes. They rent them out and go back to living in hutments. It is difficult to break that, but education, I think, will help to some extent.

I dream of an India that is corruption-free. Even I'm guilty of falling prey at the most basic level. I break a traffic light, I pay 20 bucks and move on. I want to stop that. I want people to abide by the rules.

We need cleanliness -- at the most basic level. I have a dustbin in my car. Everyone who sits in my car uses the dustbin instead of littering the streets.

We need politicians who are more educated. They are old, due for retirement and are senile. How can a politician who has a criminal record talk about justice?

In my own way I want to do things. I have sponsored a child's education. A girl child. Why? Because I believe in women's empowerment. I have given money to a boy in a juvenile detention center.

I am just a small part of India. I need people to join hands with me.
