CBI questions UP officials over Taj project

Investigating the Taj Heritage Corridor controversy on a Supreme Court directive, the Central Bureau of Investigation has questioned Uttar Pradesh environment director I P Singh and other officials on the funding of the project.

Singh was summoned on Saturday and quizzed for over two hours to ascertain who released Rs 17 crore for the project, sources said on Sunday.

The CBI also collected documents pertaining to the project from officials of the state pollution control board, who were also questioned, they said.

The agency had already questioned the suspended principal secretary (environment), R K Sharma.
