August 01, 2003 09:39 IST

Elaborate security arrangements have been made in the temple town of Ayodhya for the cremation of president of Ramjanmabhoomi Nyas Ramchandradas Paramhans, to be attended by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and several other VVIPs.

Vajpayee will arrive in Ayodhya at around 1345 IST and will pay floral tributes to the departed soul, Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Sudhakar Adeeb said.

The funeral procession will start from Digambar Akhara and after taking a round of the town, the body
will be taken to the Saryu river's banks, where it would be consigned to flames at the Tulsi Ghat around 1400 IST.

The procession will halt briefly at the Vishwa Hindu Parishad workshop, Karsevakpuram, Chhoti Chavni, Maniramdas Chavni and Hanumangarhi, the ADM said.

Security personnel have been deployed at all the major intersections and traffic restrictions have been imposed in the town, Adeeb said.
