Mulund blast case: Two suspects picked up

April 25, 2003 17:04 IST

The Mubai police crime branch sleuths on Thursday night picked up two suspects in the Mulund bomb blast  case for questioning from the Padgha village in Bhiwandi of nearby Thane district.

The two are being interrogated in regard to their alleged role in the conspiracy to create a powerful explosion in a local train in Mulund Railway Station on March 13 in which 11 persons died.

They have been detained and might be arrested formally after the interrogation is complete.

The duo is alleged to be associates of prime accused Saquib Nachan who has been arrested under POTA on April 10. The two are also reported to be activists of banned student outfit SIMI.

Another accused was recently arrested in Ratnagiri and also booked under POTA.

Police recently recovered an AK-56 rifle belonging to prime accused Nachan hailing from Padgha-Borivali village.
