Two stabbed in Surat; city quiet

Two persons were on Thursday stabbed by Bajrang Dal activists in the outskirts of Surat during the bandh called to protest against Tuesday's terrorist attack, police said.

A driver of the Surat Municipal Corporation was attacked by a Bajrang Dal activist while he was alighting from a three-wheeler near the civic zonal office in the sensitive Udhna area on the outskirts of Surat, police said.

Another person was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon, also by a Bajrang Dal activist, in Katgram area, police said.

Both were rushed to the Maskati Hospital, they said.

Barring these two stray incidents of stabbing, the overall situation in the city and its outskirts was normal, the sources said.
