Your Views:India should learn from our Smart neighbor up north! Just like the Chinese government move millions of Chinese into Tibet, India should move one millions Indians from other parts of India into Kashmir! As far as terrorism goes, crush it. Do not send the terrorists to jail, execute them! If America can bomb Afganistan, India should bomb POK! And if possible, invade Pakistan and settle issues once and for all. Well, that depends on if Gandhian India is ever going to produce a leader like Subhash Chandra Bose! Nuclear India should act like a nuclear China! It's in the attitude and that's what bring attention and respect! India should crush terrorism at any costs and the end should justify any means!!!

Your Views:Kashmir's election showed a impressive turnout and that shows that the people there are really fed up of the militancy and separatists parties. But the siuation will not change as far as the militancy and pro Pakistan thinking of a small but significant number of people; For this our governing policies have been more or less responsible. These forces existed even 14-15 years ago but could not surface because the state was doing well as far as economy was concerned. But some selfcentered politics played by our politicians contributed in the rise of these elements to haunt the state today. The continueous rise in anti- Indian feelings also is contributed by the existance of Army in civil areas;though unavoidable the Army seems to raid thier freedom every now and then making the locals feel they are prisoners in thier own homes. Moreover recently looking at the changing mood of the Public the militants started targeting our Army;who are then forced to comb residencial areas and sometimes there have been cases of harrasment of females reported. This aggravated the already worse situation.I think if we want to win the hearts of kashmiris we have to give them the freedom the rest of us enjoy

Your Views:Election, new leaders nobody can stop the militant activities. Because the militancy will be there as long as militants are there and militants are there as long as Pakistan is there. I see peace in the Kashmir valley with the following possiblities only: (1) Next to next generation of present Kashmiris come to the scene, which means another 100 years, where nobody is interested in the Kashmir issue any more. (2)There will be another war between India and Pakistan where Pakistan is crushed so deep that there is no ISI supplying arms and money to the militants.

Your Views:Dear all Kashmir has been the problem for more than fifty years. Various solutions has been tried in various times, but to no end. The problem as existed during 1947 is not same always. In 1947 it was the case of keeping the pathan tribals in check for pakistan, it got them a goal. It has to be noted it was India which suggested plebiscite, not pakistan, not kashmir groups, not islamic groups. Pakistan then and now also has only tentative 15% of the support of the kashmir population. All the tribes other than the sunni muslims in kashmir valley are totally against pakistan, hindus , buddhist, sikhs, gujjars, and other kashmir groups hate pakistan, so the question of plebiscite is not a option for pakistan. It harps the issue because it knows india will not accept it. Considering the militants most of them are failed politicians who could not get elected due to lack of popularity has taken the guns. The reasons may vary, but the government in kashmir is also kashmiri. Lack of employment oppurtunities and funds for violence from across border has been oil which the violence is taking place. The militant are few 10000 to 15000 only. so their opinion counts little once the people decide

Your Views:"Kashmir is indeed a part of India", no doubt about that, but merely saying this quote each day won't help, We have some obligations too,& i.e to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Kashmir. Over the years, we fought militancy & highlighted it at the international level,& in the process forgot the plight of the people there. There has been instances of excesses, repression & killing of innocent people by our forces, in the name of terrorists & fake encounters, though they might not be deliberate sometimes, they may be due to mistaken identity, but such acts, draws the ire of the people & ignites anti India feelings, this must end & the govt should apologize for it & pay proper compensation to the agreived families. Nationalism & love for a nation cannot be imposed on anyone, its comes from the heart & happens only when the people who are being ruled are kept happy by the people who rule them. Elections are not the real & lasting solution to the problem of Kashmir, since this won't solve there problem of two meals a day. The need of the hour is to provide them with basic human needs & lend a sympathetic ear to listen to there greivances. This may help in healing their wounds.

Your Views:It is obvious from the disrupt of polls, militants killing the civilians that people's choice are not given much importance. Conducting elections certainly means that importance to people is given. Elections would certainly solve the Kashmir struggle if it happens to be a diplomatic problem!

Your Views:It would be premature to say that elections would solve Kasmir problem once and for all.But there is no gainsaying that elections are step in the right direction.Successful completion of first round should be construed as the willingness of people for lasting peace.

Your Views:It was really exciting to see local kashmiris standing in long queue's waiting for their turn to vote. Equally frightening was the fact that at some places this happened in the midst of heavy shelling from across the border. And perhaps this scene was the most fitting reply to the shelling by those who have been subjected to this .People have understood that guns r no solution to their problems. They r lookingh forward to live a natural life , free from anykind of fear, a life of prosperity. And even as few voters said that they were voting for azadi, the whole process should be taken as a real fruitful and positive exercise. They can send a person to the assembly whom they think voices their concerns the best. This atleast is a much better way to say something. The only thing that the central govt. needs to do is to see that these elections don't go the way of their predecessors. And perhaps these elections will show everybody who think they r the real representatives of the kashmiris , where they stand.Go in for some introspection ,Mssr. National Conference and Hurriyat, may these elections serve as an eyeopener for u.Best wishes to the brave Kashmiris.

Your Views:I am really proud of my country, of the police and armed forces, the people of Jammu & Kashmir and the entire process of organizing elections. I can probably imagine the amount of stress all the government officials and police have been under during this entire process, not to mention the candidates and the peace-loving citizens themselves. All credit to them for managing this in a peaceful manner. And full credit also to our brothers and sisters in Jammu & Kashmir who braved the threats of militants to come out and vote. The democracy of India lives on the spirit of such people, who are really the torchbearers of our democracy. I can also imagine Pakistan's Musharraf rolling with pain at his inability to further disrupt these polls - I can't say I am not enjoying that.

Your Views:Whether election or otherwise, Kashmir issue is not going to be solved. PM and other concerned/unconcerned Ministers are making speeches, which are not going to help.Since Independence, Kashmir is the hottested problem. Jinnah has stabbed at the back of Panditji. America wants that this should be a permanent headache for India to avoid India becoming a Developed Country. We heard the speeches of M/s Krishna Menon, Vijaylakshmi Pandit etc.etc.at the UN Session. The result is a big zero.Govt.should invite opinion from public, jurists etc.as to how this can be tackled instead of some ministers sitting, talking and taking nastha. We should avoid War. All the States are financially very weak. Let the Centre takes into Confidence all State Chief Ministers, and all political parties irrespective of their affiliation and come to a common point,if that could help in solving this issue once for all. Otherwise even after 100 years the status quo will be maintained.

Your Views:Elections is not the answer. It should be coupled with good motives of bringing peace to the state and eradicate terrorism. Let us not forget that 'Election is only a process of electing the political administraters of the state, this does not guarantee good governance'(we know the history of governance in other states of India)'. We have an elected govt in Bihar, so do, we have in the eastern states. Have they improved in any respect? NO. The core issues like the discrimination/poverty/illiteracy etc remain the same and the people continue to suffer. YES, Kashmir cannot equalled with other states, but seeing through the issues, what we need is a group of people who are committed to the cause of our brethren in kashmir.

Your Views:When the supposedly deadliest organisation - the LTTE can be negotiated with why can't the Indian government negotiate with Kashmiri Militants? I think Kashmir should be given autonomy and as part of this bargain the militants should be asked to participate in elections. This is the only possible solution within the short-run. Instead if RAW decides to manipulate, things will only get worse.

Your Views:This is a waste of time and money and Lives. What we need is a 'emotionless' discussion on the cost of maintaing kashmir. The Kashmiris seem to hate us, so why are we holding on to them Let them go and suffer the fate of other Pakis. Then they and other separatists will realise that they are blessed to be in India. No point holding onto that piece of land by force. Use the money to develop other parts instead.

Your Views:Who cares what New Delhi thinks? If only the govt. puts 50% of its defence spending on developing the state and its industries, then the young will go to work and lead a good life. Politics is killing India. There might be more Kashmirs in the days to come if we don't act now.

Your Views:ELECTION haaaaaaaahaahahahahaha! For God's sake! Stop playing with peoples emotions. It has become nothing but source of money in terms of 1)[Votes] for these disgust politicians. 2)Money for media. Stop this crap. Only solution to this is with God. Its high time that we realize that these bunch of jokers who are holding the power for past 50 yrs have made this impossible for an indian to do anything. Cummon let us all grow up how can we resolve this problem where politicians are holding criminal records. Criminals are having all the liberties. States are fighting within themselves for the sheer necesity [water]. A foreign national can hold powerful positions. Bribing is going at mass level. Dons are driving the politics or vice versa. just stop this .

Your Views:One surely hopes so. India prides itself in being a democracy, yet for ages we have suppressed people's voices - the very essence of democracy. India needs to do its part by ensuring that the elections are strictly fair, and both sides (India and Pakistan) should accept the outcome of the election as legitimate. Ofcourse, there is a solution to the Kashmir problem - every problem has a solution. But one can successfully find a solution only if one makes earnest efforts. In the case of Kashmir: if you claim to be a true democracy, let the people decide! Why should others, especially politicians who couldn't care less about the plight/well-being of people, make decisions for them?

Your Views:Conducting polls in Kashmir makes everyone, including pakistan, that kashmir is still a part of the country. At any cost we have to conduct elections regularly & the CMs of that state must make people of kashmir that the kashmiris won't be be let down at any stage. The government must provide some extra prievillages to those who vote in the elections, not only in kashmir. The kashmir people should voluntarily tell the world that India is the best. Jai Hind

Your Views:well,to be frank and straight the polls at jammu and kashmir is not going to bring peace straight away in the valley, but it will definitely strengthen the arrogate of Kashmir being an integral part of India. In a bid to trammel the poll process, Pakistan has again started backing infiltration in kashmir by providing arms and ammunition to the terrorist groups which is being seen in a large number of grenade attacks in the valley thereby killing 2 candiadates-no mention abt the number of civilians being killed.India should have posted much larger army in Kashmir in this big occassion considering the gravity of the situation. Its not a mere election to determine the people in power, but its a fight against a nation who is directly sponsoring terrorism to break the democratic rights of people. It is more likely that the violence will increase killing more civilians in order to hamper the democratic rights of the people.3 cheers to those kashmiris, who has cold-shouldered the threats and have casted their votes.Bravo!

Your Views:No, It never happen in the distant future unless the people of both India and Pakistan understand the real politics behind it. Same people , same culture.....But quarelling each other for 55 years...If this continues it will only strengthen America....It is their strategy to split India and Pakistan..For their needs they used their strategy all over the world..In Latin america, East Asia,Europe ..List continues....But the latin americans realises the need of unity as Europeans...But we are quarelling each other, though we have "saarc"..
