Advani speaks to President, PM

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who is on an official visit to the Maldives, spoke to his deputy Lal Kishenchand Advani just an hour after some gunmen entered the Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar in Gujarat on Tuesday.

Sources in the prime minister's office in Delhi said he is keeping a close watch on the situation and is in constant touch with Advani.

Advani, an agency report said, also briefed President A P J Abdul Kalam on the attack.

Vajpayee is returning to Delhi on Wednesday.
