Exchange of fire continues, NSG makes no headway

The operation to flush out terrorists holed up inside the Akshardham temple on Gandhinagar continued on Wednesday morning, with the crack team of National Security Guards unable to make any headway due to exchange of fire and hurling of grenades and petrol bombs by the militants.

The commandos, who had 'walked' into the temple compound shortly after Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani visited the site, are moving 'cautiously' as there is no clue about the type, quantity of arms and ammunitions with the militants, official sources said.

One or two NSG personnel have been injured in addition to the five police personnel, who sustained injuries on Tuesday night, they said.
