Violence in Gujarat; one killed

Prithvi Shah in Ahmedabad

One person was killed and 20 injured following clashes between members of two communities in Borsad town of Anand district, Gujarat, since Monday night, police said.

Those hurt included 17 policemen. Sixteen shops and fifteen vehicles were also burnt by the mob, which was throwing crude bombs.

The police burst teargas shells and fired 31 rounds to disperse the crowd. An indefinite curfew was clamped at 1015 IST on Tuesday, the police said.
