Many trains cancelled, diverted as Yamuna crosses danger mark

Several express and passenger trains running on the Delhi-Meerut, Delhi-Hapur and Delhi-Aligarh routes have either been cancelled or diverted at least till the next two days due to rising water level in the Yamuna river in Delhi and Ganga river in Garhmukteshwar.

Several suburban trains plying on the Ghaziabad-Delhi route also remained cancelled, railway officials said on Monday.

The Avadh-Assam Express and the Raxaul Express was halted at Hapur on Sunday and will not proceed for Delhi in the next two days, they said. The Farrakha Express will remain cancelled between Kanpur and Bhiwani.

Three passenger trains running on the Delhi-Sahranpur route and the Meerut-Delhi shuttle will remain cancelled till Tuesday, they said.

The Saharanpur-Delhi Express train will be terminated between Shahdara and Delhi and the Saheed Express and Saryu-Yamuna Express will proceed to Amritsar from Moradabad via Saharanpur and Ambala instead of taking the Delhi route.

Other trains, including Sadbhawna Express, Kathgodam Express, Alla Hajrat Express will reach Old Delhi station via Tilak Bridge, they added.
