12-year-old survives after being trapped for 20 hours

Showing steely resolve, 12-year-old Shivani Gupta survived the Rajdhani Express accident after being trapped in a badly twisted coach for 20 hours.

Rescue workers struggled with gas cutters and other machines for nearly six hours after hearing her wails and cries from the mangled AS-2 coach, before pulling out the dazed and shaken Delhi-based girl on Tuesday night.

Shivani's right hand was stuck under a seat making it impossible for her to make any attempts to save herself in a bogie that had few survivors.

Ten more bodies were pulled out from the AS-2 compartment on Wednesday morning.

The AS-2 bogie, which was the worst-affected in the Monday night accident that left at least 90 dead, was the last compartment to be cut open by the rescuers.
