Sealdah-bound Rajdhani Express collides with trolley

Barely 36 hours after the Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express derailed in Bihar, Sealdah-bound Rajdhani Express on Wednesday, collided with an inspection trolley at Nabagram station on the Eastern Railway's Howrah-Burdwan chord line, about 69 km from Kolkatta.

The collision took place at around 1250 hrs IST, when those inspecting the tracks on the trolley failed to remove it, Eastern Railway sources said.

Nobody was injured as those on board the trolley got off immediately on seeing the approaching express train.

The cow-catcher [metal extension in front] and the compressor of the engine of the Rajdhani Express were damaged in the collision.

The train, which was detained at the station for some time, left for Sealdah at 1438 hrs IST with another engine, railway sources said, adding that the supervisor of the trolley was suspended.
