Bihar govt despatches doctors'
team to Gaya, Aurangabad

Minister of State for Health Akhilesh Prasad Singh told PTI that the health commissioner along with Director (AIDS programme) C K Anil and leading doctors from the Patna Medical College and Hospital and the Nalanda Medical College and Hospital have rushed to Gaya and Aurangabad hospitals with a large quantity of medicines.

Meanwhile, sources in the Magadh Medical College and Hospital, Gaya, said altogether 43 passengers had been admitted there. A senior member of the hospital staff said extra beds had been arranged to accommodate the injured passengers. The eye ward has been converted to an emergency ward and doctors have been put on round-the clock duty, he said.

Sources in the Railway Hospital, Gaya, said out of 29 passengers admitted, nine had been discharged after being administered first aid. Most of the passengers admitted to the hospital had orthopaedic problems, they said.

Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner (Magadh range) H C Sirohi said a railway rescue van reached Gaya on Tuesday evening with injured persons some of whom left for their native places after being administered first aid. The rest were being treated at various government hospitals, he said.
