Delhi Police insists R K Sharma is in India

A day after the special public prosecutor told the Delhi high court that Indian Police Service officer R K Sharma, prime accused in the murder of journalist Shivani Bhatnagar, had fled the country, the Delhi police on Tuesday insisted that he was still in India.

Additional Commissioner (Crime) Qamar Ahmed claimed that SPP S K Saxena had been "misquoted", as he was "just making a passing reference" during the arguments over the anticipatory bail petition of Sharma.

"All the information and clues collected reveal that R K Sharma is in India," Ahmed said.

Claiming that the police had got "new clues" regarding the whereabouts of Sharma, he said "all out efforts" were being made to nab him.
