Musharraf to talk Kashmir, India
with Bush

Terming the ongoing Indo-Pak tensions and the Kashmir problem as "important issues", Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday said these would figure prominently in his talks with US President George W Bush on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York next week.

"The ongoing tensions with India and Kashmir are one of the important issues that would figure during my visit to the US, and not the elections in Pakistan," Musharraf said in Karachi.

"I am not going to US to talk on the issue of elections. Nor would there be any outside interference in the elections," he said, commenting on reports that the controversial new electoral rules that he has brought in would feature in talks with Bush.

Musharraf four-day visit to the US begins September 11, when he will attend a memorial service on the first anniversary of the terror strikes in the US. He will address the General Assembly the next day.

Asked about US operations against the Al Qaeda in Pakistan, he said there was no question of US troops coming to Pakistan. "We are fully capable of operating against anything, nor is there any plan before the US to carry out any such operation within Pakistan."
