Police make another arrest in Godhra case

Gujarat police have arrested one more person in connection with the attack on the Sabarmati Express in Godhra on February 27.

Riyazuddin Aval, manager of Aman guesthouse at Signal Faliya near Godhra railway station, was arrested in Vadodara on Thursday, police said on Friday.

Interrogation of Nanhe Mian alias Nikku Chaudhary, a dismissed police constable who was nabbed in Uttar Pradesh, led to the arrest of Aval, it said.

Mian had frequently visited Godhra and stayed in the guesthouse, which was owned by Razak Kurkur, who is in judicial custody, the police said.

A special team of the Gujarat police is camping in Jammu and Kashmir to investigate links of Mian, who was posted there.

Mian was allegedly involved in drug trafficking and illegal sale of arms, the police said.

It is yet to be established if he had any links with militant outfits in Kashmir or Assam, as his native village is in Naogaon district.
