Government advised to withdraw troops from border

The National Security Advisory Board met the National Security Council under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Wednesday and recommended a "calibrated withdrawal of troops" from the International Border while maintaining the state of readiness along the Line of Control.

The Cabinet Committee on Security will meet later in the day to take a final decision on the issue.
