Funny thing here is that at least we have a minority in this country and the president is from the minority community. The united states doesn't even have a minority community, they have practised ethnic cleansing, the red indians were wiped out and then the blacks, wonder what's next. This is a fact and then it is my view point. Harish

Do we really need more issues like this before we take stronger action against Pakistan ? If we think that by posting these news to the International community we will achieve something by which Pakistan will be punished for whatever they are doing, that it far fetched and next to the biggest dream in our life. Nobody will stop giving debt to Pakistan or nobody will stop selling arms to Pakistan as well. What does India want from International Community ? Is Indian Govt. expecting that somebody else will fight with Pakistan for our cause ? What explanation Indian Govt. has to the people who are getting killed in these fights ? What cause are these people fighting for? Protecting mother India ? When the Govt. is in doubt of how to protect mother India ! Santanu Bhattacharya

First of all self respecting scientists and social workers should stop caring for Nobel recognition. Except for hell of a lot of money, there is nothing to suggest credibility in annual Nobel Tamasha. It has been used previously as a capitalist tool to dislodge Communism by awarding it to prominent dissidents in Communist countries. Now it is being awarded to extend cause of Christianity world wide. Afterall Christians bankroll the award and all the committee members are Christians. In the present case, some unknown Polish missionary who never ever made any news all these 6 decades with any notable contribution is being 'nominated' for Nobel Prize. Honestly, ask how many people in Orissa itself know of such guy doing such outstanding job.... 1%?....doubful sir. We know why Orissa and why Christian missionary of Orissa, everyone with a quarter ounce of brain does. Why not Sathya Sai Baba," dumb idiot, he is 'not' Christian missionary from Orissa, that is why!!" Okay Nobel folks, go ahead and rename yourself of 'Nobel Christian Committee', we care a hoot!! It is such a great loss to our country to have lost so many officers and seaman of Navy. The responsibility for this accident should be with the Southern Command and who ever is in charge should be fired and the enquiry should focus on how we can avoid such a costly accident to happen again. There should be zero tolerance towards the folks who violates the recommendations based on the enquiry. India cannot afford to have these accidents. It appears that India do not need war to destroy equipments and to kill our soldiers. Raj Rajasekharan

I'm French. It's not a good recollection, but I'm alive. I'm stunned by this drama and very sad for these deaths and for their family. I question me on the forming and professionalism of these pilots. Please receive my regards. Martine Taine

it comes to my mind that the norms, if at all there is any regarding the minimum gap during formations, is not maintained. may be it is due to the negligence on the part of the pilots of the two aircrafts? this type of incident though rare, shows us that we have to tighten our belts. however this type of incident is unfortunate and i express my condolence to the bereaved families. may the souls rest in peace. Kudo's to the journalists.... This is the first time that I have seen the indian journalism beleving in the miracles etc. etc. This has become a habit to us that anybody other than indian can do miracle and no indian is capable of that or can dispute it. Even the communist ruled WB also had gone into such frenzy is surprising. I have not yet seen a single person disputing this. If such things are popularised then there will be sect of a new sect of hoodwinkers (like baba's, amma's etc). Nobody is questioning the service mother did. That does not give a pretext for giving such unnecessary honours. For that matter there are also other people who are doing such service. Of course not in the name of Christianity. Please air the other side also sir. Sasi

All Indians respect Mother Teresa and her work done. Please do not try to over project her good work with stories of miracle's. India is a secular country and over projecting the powers of an individual shall give a wrong signal that minorities are using her name for spreading Christianity in India which shall unnecessarily drag her name into controversy . There are many poor non educated people in India which can easily get carried over by stories of miracle so please do not take advantage of this mass to spread miracle stories. Let her be remembered as a our " Mother Teresa " and be respected by all Indians like we have respected leaders like Mahatma Gandhi. Samir Pandya

'Apart from its literacy mission, the couple has also been translating the Bible into Adivasi Oriya. This translation, funded mainly by Canada-based churches, was one of Gustafsson's principal reasons for coming to India --- to bring the "word of God" to those who previously would not have been able to read it in their mother tongues'. I was elated as I was reading this piece, till I came to the above. This is one of the several devious methods used by the Christian missionaries to convert the tribals - offer the needy material help, and coax them to come to Christianity. This is only marginally better than the jihadi warriors, for thier aim is also to bring the whole world to their version of Christianity . Their methods are more crude, while the missionaries do it more subtly - they are the more dangerous of the two. There should be a National Government body formed to fight such forces, as they have the support of foreign resources. Parmesh

This was a great article. Wonderful to read about the sacrifice in moving from Canada and compiling the dictionary etc. I have two questions. 1. The article does not adequately describe the change in the economic conditions of the tribals over the last 30 years that Gustaffson has been here. Many are now literate yes, but how exactly has their average lives and income levels improved? 2. I cant help ask this next question, given all the brouhaha in India over conversions. Besides, the article itself states that the principal reason Gustaffson came is to spread the bible among the tribals. Do the tribals still remain Hindus? What percentage of them have been converted to christianity? Swaminathan Venkataraman
