remanded to judicial custody

Congress MLA Sobhana George, arrested on Thursday afternoon in connection with a forgery case, was remanded to judicial custody till October 11 by Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) N J Jose.

The CJM visited the hospital where Sobhana was admitted after she fainted in the court premises earlier and took her statement.

He asked Sobhana whether the police had treated her well, to which she replied the police had been 'courteous'.

The remand order was issued in the evening.

Shobhana's bail plea will come up for hearing on Friday.

Deputy leader of the Congress Legislature Party M P Gangadhara visited her in the hospital.
