A petition in this connection was admitted in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Monday, Shahi said in Lucknow on Tuesday.
"The acquired land in Ayodhya, as also most of the town area of Faizabad, belonged to my ancestors and could not be acquired as it falls under the purview of the Non-Zamidari Abolition Act," he said, adding he had submitted proof that the land belonged to his Shri Rajeshwari Sitaram Trust.
"Once the land of the trust is demarcated, the whole controversy in Ayodhya would come to an end," he said.
Shahi, however, underlined his commitment for the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site and also mentioned his family's long association with Ramchandra Das Paramhans and his Ramnandiya Dighamber Akhara.
