Vladimir Putin to visit India next month

Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a two-day state visit to India beginning December 3, official sources said in Moscow.

A formal announcement about the visit will made in New Delhi and Moscow on Friday by the South Block and the Kremlin respectively, they said.

The sources said Putin is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi late evening on December 3 from Beijing.

He will have a full day of engagements in New Delhi on December 4, which will include summit talks with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

On December 5, Putin will leave for home after a meeting with heads of Indian business, they said. The sources said New Delhi had requested that Putin extend his visit by one more day, but the president declined saying bilateral relations are 'cloudless'.
