Pakistan will retaliate if anyone
casts an evil eye: Jamali

K J M Varma in Islamabad

Pakistan Prime Minister-elect Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Thursday warned that his country would retaliate if anyone cast an 'evil eye' on it.

"Pakistan has no enmity with anyone," he said after being elected in a parliamentary vote. But having good ties "should not be considered as a weakness", he said.

He said he would continue with the economic and foreign policies of President Pervez Musharraf, as they had worked well for the country.

Jamali also thanked China for maintaining close relations with Pakistan. "China is our old and close friend and we cannot forget it. Pak-Sino friendship is higher than the Himalayas."
