Abu Salem, wife, girlfriend declared absconders

Gangster Abu Salem, his wife Rubiya Baig and girl friend Monica Bedi have been declared absconders by a local court in Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh in a case of forgery and making false passports.

Their bank accounts with deposit of Rs 12 lakh has been seized.

Magistrate Ajay Srivastava gave this verdict after a plea made by the crime branch of the city police

Crime branch Deputy Superintendent of Police J P Pali, in an application, had urged action against Salem and two others under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code.

The police also said that the trio have been booked under section 307 of the IPC for alleged involvement in an attempt to murder.

Salem and Monica were recently arrested in Portugal and efforts were being made by Indian government to seek their extradition.
