CPI-ML congress to be held in Patna

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

Delegates from the communist parties of 13 countries would attend the seventh congress of the Communist Party of India-Marxist/Leninist that will be held in Patna from November 25 to 29.

Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines, Holland, Indonesia, Myanmar, England, Canada and United States of America would be participating.

The congress would chalk out the political agenda for the next five years and see how the CPI-ML can spread its influence across India.

Being held amid calls for nationwide Leftist unity, this will be the first congress after the party took to parliamentary politics in early 1990s, CPI-ML state unit chief Prabhat Kumar said.

The congress assumes importance in the backdrop of the political situation in the country and the 'growing fascism' in BJP-ruled Gujarat, state unit secretary Ram Jatan Sharma, who is also the leader of the party's legislative group in Bihar Assembly, said.
