One killed, 3 injured in Pak shelling in Poonch

A woman was killed and three civilians injured in shelling and heavy firing resorted to by Pakistani troops in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening, police sources said in Srinagar on Friday.

Pakistani troops targeted Poonch town and its adjoining areas with rockets and mortar shells around 1700 hours on Thursday and continued it till 2000 hours forcing Indian troops to retaliate.

Tasbir Begum (50) died on the spot in Kamsar Mohalla when a shell hit her house, the sources said.

A few houses were also damaged in the town due to the shelling. Shelling and firing between the two sides was also reported in Bhawani area of Nowshera sector in Poonch district in which one school building was reported to have been partially damaged, the sources said.

Small arms firing exchange along international border also took place in Jammu and Kathua districts without any casualty or damage on the Indian side.
