Punjab govt cancels 46 appointments made by Sidhu

Punjab government has cancelled the 46 appointments made by arrested state Public Service Commission chairman Ravinderpal Singh Sidhu, the main accused in the sensational cash-for-job scam, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said on Thursday.

Singh told reporters that the appointments were cancelled in keeping with the observations of Punjab and Haryana high court.

He said as part of his exercise to fight corruption, a committee headed by a former judge of Punjab and Haryana high court would be set up to investigate all corruption cases against politicians and bureaucrats.

Singh, who is in Delhi to attend the All India Congress Committee session on Friday, said, "My government is committed to root out corruption at the political and bureaucratic level and it was with this in view that I am setting up this committee to investigate all cases."
